Chord Booklets: Printable Guitar Chord Sheets

Sometimes the best way to learn a song is to disconnect. No screen glare, no notifications, no battery anxiety. Just you, your guitar, and a printed chord sheet you can scribble on, fold up, and toss in your gig bag.

That's the idea behind Revistinhas (chord booklets) on Toca Aquela — printable mini-magazines packed with chords, lyrics, and fingering diagrams.

What Are Revistinhas?

Revistinha means "little magazine" in Portuguese. It's a Brazilian tradition — pocket-sized booklets of chord sheets that musicians pass around at rodas de violão (guitar circles) and rehearsals.

On Toca Aquela, we've brought this tradition online. Each revistinha is a curated collection of songs formatted for printing. Print it, fold it, and you've got a pocket chord booklet ready to go.

What's Inside Each Booklet

Every revistinha includes:

  • Chord sheets — full lyrics with chord markers above the syllables where changes happen
  • Chord diagrams — fingering charts for every chord in the song, showing exactly where to place your fingers
  • Song key and capo position — so you know the original tuning
  • Clean, readable layout — optimized for A4 or Letter paper, no wasted space

The chord diagrams are especially useful for beginners. Instead of Googling "how to play Dm7" mid-song, every chord you need is right there on the page.

How to Print a Revistinha

Printing a chord booklet takes about 30 seconds:

  1. Go to the Revistinhas page
  2. Pick a booklet (organized by theme — beginner songs, sertanejo hits, rock classics, etc.)
  3. Click the print button or use Ctrl+P / Cmd+P
  4. Select "Fit to page" in your printer settings
  5. Print and fold

The print stylesheet removes all navigation, ads (well, we don't have ads anyway), and unnecessary elements. What you get on paper is pure content — chords, lyrics, and diagrams.

Folding Tips

For the classic revistinha format:

  • Print double-sided if your printer supports it
  • Fold in half along the center
  • Staple the spine if you want it to hold together
  • Or just leave pages loose — whatever works for your setup

Why Print When You Have a Screen?

Good question. Here's why musicians still love printed chord sheets:

No Distractions

A printed page doesn't buzz with notifications. No texts, no app updates, no temptation to check social media between songs. Just music.

Better for Group Settings

At a campfire jam or rehearsal room, passing around a phone is awkward. Printed booklets can be shared, marked up, and left on music stands without worrying about someone dropping your device.

Annotation Friendly

Grab a pencil and circle the tricky chord changes. Write in strum patterns. Note where the bridge speeds up. Printed sheets become personalized study guides.

No Battery, No Problem

Outdoor gigs, beach jams, camping trips — anywhere without a charger, your printed revistinha keeps working.

Muscle Memory Aid

Studies show that physical interaction with printed material (holding, flipping pages, writing notes) helps cement information better than screen reading. Your fingers learn chord shapes faster when your brain is engaged with a physical page.

Chord Diagrams: Your Fingering Reference

Each revistinha includes chord diagrams that show:

  • Fret positions — which fret each finger goes on
  • Finger numbers — 1 (index) through 4 (pinky)
  • Open and muted strings — which strings to play and which to skip
  • Barre indicators — for barre chords like F and Bm

This means a beginner can pick up a revistinha and play through a song without any prior knowledge of the chords. Everything they need is self-contained in the booklet.

Available Booklets

We're building a growing collection of themed revistinhas. Browse them all at the revistinhas page. Each one is curated with songs that work well together — similar keys, progressive difficulty, or matching themes.

Feel free to suggest themes you'd like to see. We're always looking for what musicians actually need in their practice sessions.

Pair With Scroll Mode

For a hybrid approach: use scroll mode on your device for initial learning, then print the revistinha once you're ready to practice without the screen. Digital for discovery, paper for mastery.
