CI was born right here on Randolph street in Freehold
here right behind that big red maple in Freehold G
well I wenFt to school right here
got laidC and had my first beer, in GFreehold
Well my folCks all lived and worked right here in Freehold
I remember running up the street
past the convent & the church in GFreehold
chased my dadFdy down in these bars
first fell in love wCith this guitar, here in GFreehold
I had my fiCrst kiss at the YMCA canteen on a Friday night
Maria Espinosa baby, where are yFou tonight
you were 13 but way ahead of your time
I walked home with a limp buCt I felt just fine, tFhat night in GFreehold
Well the girCls at Freehold Regional yeah, they all looked pretty fine
had my heart broke at least a half a dozFen times
I wonder if they miss me, do they still get the itch G
would they had dumped meC if they knew I'd strike it rich, straight oFut
of GFreehold
CWell, a lot of folks gave us kids a hand in Freehold
Man, we started up our rock n roll band in GFreehold
well we leaFrned really quick how to rock it
I'll never forget the feeling of that first 5 buckCs in my pocket, that F
I earned in GFreehold
Well I gCot outta here hard and fast in Freehold
everybody wanted to kick my ass back there in GFreehold
well if you were diFfferent black or brown
it was a prCetty redneck town, baFck there in GFreehold
Well now soCmething broke my Daddy's back in Freehold
he left and for 30 years he'd never come back G
except once he drove from CalifoFrnia in just three days
called my relCatives some dirty namFes
drove straight out of GFreehold
Now he's bFuried by the highway, buried in the dirt
his ghost just flippin' the bird, to everybody in GFreehold
Well, my sisCter got pregnant at 17 in Freehold
Back then people they could be pretty mean G
Now honey you had Fa rough road to go
now you ain'Ct made of nothin' but soul F
I love you more than you'll ever know, we both survived GFreehold
Well Cmy buddy Mike he's the Mayor now in Freehold
I remember when we had a lot more hair in GFreehold
I left andF swore I'd never walk these streets again, Jack
now all I can say is "Holy shit CI'm back", back Fin GFreehold
WCell I read something in the paper a couple weeks ago
that seemed pretty funny
The town council was debating about putting up a statue,
a statue of me in my home town, but it cost too much money G
well I'dF like to thank the Town Council, my friends,
for saving me from humiliation
by demonstrating the good hCard common sense that weF learned in GFreehold
CWell this summer everything was green
rode with my kids on the fire engines through the streets of GFreehold
I brought Fthem to where dad was born and raised.
and Cfirst felt the Fsun on his face, in GFreehold
