I was Gborn and raised in the ghetto
Talk with me and you'll know
CI wasn't satisfied with living on the sGide
I started looking around for a possibilitCy
But listen to my storGy, D of what became of Gme
GI met a businessman
Who said he got some friends back East
CSaid, "Why don't you come along?
Well we could help you atleGast"
"Make you into a big star
By playing your guitCar"
But the joke was on Gme
D They left me flat to seGe G7
Going back WesDt (Going back West)
Yes I kCnow, I'll make out alrGight
Going back WesDt (Going back West)
Where my mCusic's playing all Gnight
Going back WesCt (Going back WestD)
Think I'll do alGright
GStruggling for recognition, identity and respect
CI got a lot of promises, they told me not to fGret
Said, "We will stand by you
If the going gets rCough"
But when I started sinGking
D They didn't even blGuff G7
Going back West (GoiDng back West)
Yes I kCnow, I'll make out alrGight
Going back WesDt (Going back West)
Where my mCusic's playing all Gnight
Going back WesCt (Going back WestD)
Think I'll do alGright

Going back WDest (Going back West)
