On the windoGw near my bed
There was a loop holFe in my dreaming
So I Ggot out of it
And to my suAmrprise my eyes were wide and already open F
Just my nightsD7tand and my dresser
Where those nightmareGs had just been
CSo I dressed myself and left then
GOut into the grey streets
FBut everything seemed different
GAnd completely new me
AmThe sky, the trees, houses, buildings, even my own body F
D7And each person I encountered,
GI couldn't wait to meet
CAnd I came upon a doctor
Who appeGared in quite poor health
I said, ?thFere's nothing I can do for you,
GYou can't do for yourself"
He said, "oh yesAm you can, just hold my hand,
FI think that that would help"
So I sat D7with him a while
And I askeGd him how he felt
He said, "I thinFk I'm cured, no Amin fact I'm sureF of it Am

CSo that's how I learned the lesson
GThat everyone's alone
And your eyes muFst do some raining
If you're everG gonna grow
When crying don'Amt help you can't compose yourself
It's Fbest to compose a poem
D7An honest verse of longing, or a simplGe song of hope
CThat's why I'm singing, baby, don't worry
Cause now IG've got you back
FAnd every time you feel like crying

AmAnd if I can't, if it just hurts too bad, then we'll waiFt for it to pass

GThrough those days so long and black
