Enjoy the following selection from John Denver's "Wildlife Concert"
(G) Me and my Uncle went a ridin (Em) down
From Colo (G) rado, West Texas (Em) bound
We stopped (G) over in Sante (Em) Fe,
Part it (G) being about half A way (A )
(Em) Besides it was the (B) hottest part of the (Em) day
BEm
(G) We led our ponies into the (Em) stall
Went to a (G) bar boys bought drinks for (Em) all
Two days in the (G) saddle, my body (Em) hurt
It being (G) summer, I took off my A shirt (A)
And (Em) tried to wash off (B) some of that dusty (Em) dirt
BEm
(G) West Texas cowboys all over (Em) town
With gold and (G) silver, they're loaded (Em) down
Just in from (G) round up you know it seemed a (Em) shame
So my (G) Uncle starts a friendly A game
(A Em) hollow jack the (B) winner takes the (Em) gain
BEm
(G) From the beginning my Uncle started to (Em) win
Them Texas (G) cowboys they was as mad as (Em) sin
Some said he's (G) cheatin', ah but that can't (Em) be
Because my (G) Uncle, he's as honest as A me (A)
And (Em) I'm about as honest as a (B) Denver man can (Em) be
BEm
(G) One of them cowboys you know he started to (Em) draw
I grabbed a (G) bottle, slapped him on the (Em) jaw
I had to shoot (G) another, now he won't grow (Em) old
In the (G) confusion, my Uncle grabbed the A gold
And (Em) we hightailed it (B) down to Mexi (Em) }co
...Mexico...way down to Mexico
BEm
instrumental verse
(G) God bless cowboys, God bless (Em) gold
God bless my (G) Uncle, God rest his (Em) soul
He taught me (G) well Lord, taught me all I (Em) know
Taught me so (G) well, that I grabbed the A gold (A)
(Em) Left him lying (B) there by the side of the (Em) road
BEm
I hope you all enjoyed that on.
