I Ethink I'll go back down to ANew Orleans, try to Ebury my Btravellin' Abone
UnpreEdictable me like I Aswore I would be, B7nothing's ever written in B7stone.
There's a Eknock on her door, is she Ahere anymore?
I guess Eme and the Bneighbors will Asee.
If the Eone thing that I couldn't Ado without her
AShe couldn't B7do without Eme.
Could I leave her behind, go on losin' my mind,
While the Egood times continue to Eroll.
With this Atime on my hands, I could Dchange all my plans
And it B7really wouldn't bother a B7soul
I could Emake all the rounds, Epaint all the towns
Do Aall that and more on my Aown,
But a Eman can't survive on B7Happiness AElone.
Take a good look around, this is New Orleans
A free wheeler's got to feel right at home
But it's a hell of a leap, whether shallow or deep
That old river's gonna keep moving on
Like that muddy Mississippi, she keeps pulling me under
When you're in it nothing ever seems clear
I could stand on the bank, just toss in my line
But there's way too many fish around here
Could I leave 'em behind for the one the line
Are the good times still gonna roll?
With this time on my hands, I could change all my plans
And it really wouldn't bother a soul
I could make all the rounds, paint all the towns
Do all that and more on my own,
But a man can't survive on Happiness Alone.

I've tried playing it in the key of D with a capo on the 2nd fret, but the
voicing of the arpeggios sounds more like the original if it's just played
in the key of E without the capo. By the way, I play the B7 as x21202 and
the B as x24442 for this song. The voicing of the notes sounds too high if
you play them as bar chords up at the 7th fret.
